Here is a great article from Craig (creator of the Men’s Health Belly Off! 2008 program and the Turbulence Training program I just started) about losing your man boobs, or moobies as I like to call mine. I can say, and you can see, that the training Craig recommend really works. Over the last 7 1/2 weeks, my chest has shrunk a few inches and I no longer look like I need a manzier. This is no magic remedy, there are no pills you can take, it will require work and change on your part. But if you are fed up with your moobies like I was, you’ll need to put in some effort. Don’t let anyone tell you differently, they’re just kidding themselves and you.

OK, not quite the end and not really an end at all but a new beginning. In just 9 days I’ll complete the Men’s Health Belly Off! 2008 program. I’ve loved every minute of it and feel great with how my body is developing. The concept of quick, high intensity workouts really fits my lifestyle while being super effective. With the end coming up so quick, it was time to look for a new program to work on. So last night, I went ahead and purchased the Turbulence Training package from Craig Ballantyne.

Well, I was going to create my own scripts that would help you calculate your BMR and then help you figure out how many calories you needed for a day, but I found a really good site that does all this already. I’ve taken the formulas and put them into a spreadsheet that I use to keep track of my weight each week. Now I can see my weight loss, but also my body fat % and lean body mass changes.
Weekly Review - Week 6

Here we are, at the end of Week 6 with just two more weeks to go. The Belly Off! program has been great and I’m very happy with my results. Not only physical, but the mental results as well. Even when I had a seemingly rough week this week, I’m still motivated to keep moving forward and am not really discouraged at all. I really believe that I now posses the tools needed to continue living a healthy lifestyle.
Row, row, row your boat…

Today I decided to change my interval workout up a bit. The treadmill seems to be getting too easy so I thought I’d throw something new at my body. You know, shake it up a bit to see what happens. Well, in just one session, I’ve learned that I really love my treadmill because it is easy. I’ve fallen into a complacent routine where I increase my speed weekly and still feel like the interval was easy. Don’t get me wrong, the treadmill intervals still give me a good workout. They just don’t feel like a workout to me anymore. But today was a big eye opener and I think I’ve learned my lesson.

Here we are, 38 days into the Belly Off! 2008 program. That leaves just 18 more days for us to work on hitting our goals for the 8 weeks. This time has gone by quick, but at the same time I feel like I’ve been living this new lifestyle for a lot longer. What once took a lot of thought and planning is becoming second nature. What once was considered cruel and unusual punishment is now considered exhilarating and enjoyable. Things can and have changed in just 38 days. Here are some thoughts on those changes. Bodyweight 350

I’m finally getting around to writing about my Bodyweight 350 experience. I completed the challenge on Saturday morning, and I swear some of my body is still feeling the effects of that beating. That was a tough workout (aren’t they all???). And, as always, I feel great for having been able to finish it and under the target time.

I don’t have a lot of time to write my review for Week 5 right now so I’m just going to say one thing and post my numbers and pics. I’ll come back later today to finish up a complete review for the week.

Hey all! I just wanted to let you know that Jillian Michaels, from The Biggest Loser, has her own health & fitness radio talk show. It is on KFI AM 640 out of LA. I’ve just started listening to it and i”m enjoying it so far.
Check it out, follow this link to get to the page where you can download each weeks (Sunday morning show) show or listen to it at your computer. If you want to add the show to your iPod, you’ll have to download each individual show and manually add it to iTunes because I cannot find any iTunes feed for this show anywhere.
Navy SEAL test, part II

I just stumbled across a Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge web site. Previously, I posted about wanting to use this test as a measure of my overall fitness. Guess what, the Navy tours the states and sets up these Navy SEAL fitness challenge days throughout the year. You get to go and complete the test with SEALs and civilians watching you and cheering you on. Every participant gets a white t-shit. If you meet SEAL standards, you get a brown t-shirt and if you meet SEAL competitive standards (though they don’t define what that is), you get a blue t-shirt.

This weeks theme is disappointment with a reality check. I knew it was coming, I saw it in my trends, and I thought I did extra this week to fight it, but in the end, it happened. I didn’t hit my goal weight for this week, losing only 1 pound. That was a pretty depressing moment, but it’s still a loss and I’m happy with that.
Bodyweight 200×2

Holy crap that was an ass kicker!!!
I went into today expecting the Bodyweight 200×2 to be a difficult challenge, but WOW. I can still feel it all over my body, but in a good way. That is except for my right calf muscle, but I’ll get into that later.
My summer goal…maybe

I’ve been thinking that I need some type of big fitness goal to shoot for this summer. Having this goal should keep me on track and give me a huge sense of accomplishment when I finish it. It’s been shown that people on weight loss/fitness plans tend to stay on them and have better long term success if they participate in organized athletic events. So, thinking about that and what I would want to do, I started looking for events I may be able to compete in.

Another Bodyweight Challenge is in the books and having completed it in the target time, I feel amazing! Sure, it was hard work, but that’s what makes it even better in the end. Knowing I’m able to finish workouts that looked impossible just a few short weeks before is a huge moral victory.
LOOOOONG way off…

Today was a great family day. We had basketball games and then we went and hit the rec center pools for an hour or so. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I grew up in Miami, FL and right off the shores of Lake Erie, so I used to be a strong swimmer. Not any more!
