Steve,

I've just spent the last couple of hours reading through your blog - awesome job on that, and the weight-loss. Congratulations.

I'm making some progress following Craig's TT program (12lb down from a 242lb start in 2008 - long way to go) and your blog is both inspiring and informational.

One request: Could I get a copy of your spreadsheet with the body composition formulae? I'm sure it will help with the tracking...

Cheers!

Sounds like you had a pretty good week by any standard! Keep it up. My wife offered me this pearl of wisdom for the week I lost no weight. She said, "Look at it this way, you didn't gain any weight either." At first it may not seem like much, but when you think about the 'old' you, she's right. A stalemate is not a loss by any strech of the imagination. Lastly, I like your attitude. You are doing great and are a real motivation. If you don't believe me, just look at your photos!

I always found rowing an excellent cardio exercise and warm up, when I was a member of a gym. Not rowed since my days at Canons' though. IU have been tempted to get a machine a few times. Great work there. Keep rowing. Compliment it with some weight training, and that should show improvements with your rowing too - plenty of bent over rows and lateral pull downs.

I'm glad to see that study is waking people up. "Diet" sodas keep fat people fat. I used to drink three to four Diet Mountain Dews every day... when I read some things about aspertame and brain chemistry, I was scared enough to cut it out of my diet cold turkey. Within a few weeks I noticed that I could think more clearly, I wasn't craving junk food as much, and a dull headache that I didn't even know I had disappeared.

Our addiction to diet sodas exposes the real problem... sweet cravings. Mastering you body means mastering it's destructive cravings. As Americans, we all have this conditioned impulse for sweetness in our foods. Even after cutting aspertame out of my foods, it took me a long time to kick the sweetness conditioning with a concerted effort to eat more raw vegetables. Now, I can taste the natural sweetness of foods and it's amazing. I indulge in chocolate occaisonally, but foods that I used to love now seem too sweet to eat.

Anyway, found a little soap box here and had to stand up on it. Thanks. :-)

BTW, congrats on your Bellyoff progress... that's how I found this blog.
